50 YEARS OF 3 ON 3!

The Gus Macker basketball tournament celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Minneapolis Northwest Tourism hosts a return of this storied, outdoor community event at North Hennepin Community College August 17-18, 2024.

The Macker is a half-court pickup style game which attracts players and spectators from across the country and locally, aged 8-88. It’s good, clean, competitive fun for the sake of raising funds for non-profits in the Twin Cities that focus on youth.

Certified officials referee each game of 4-member teams placed in divisions according to their experience, height and age. Top Men’s and Women’s teams are highly anticipated spectator events along with Special Events including a mascot game and celebrity game, as well as a slam dunk contest and other tests of skill (and bravado!).

Food trucks and a community area ensure that the lively competition on the court is matched by fun activities and eats between games.
