Rolls & Bowls Asian Cook House

Step inside Rolls & Bowls Asian Cook House in Brooklyn Park for the first time, and you might do a double take. Go beyond the unsuspecting strip-mall setting and be wowed by the vibrant and colorful décor inside. With neon lights, bottle collections, some Maneki Neko cats waving their paws, and a compelling mural, you’ll call this this place your new favorite restaurant before you even try the food.

Once you do try the food, you’ll probably never want to leave. The wide variety of Asian fusion cuisine ensures there is something for everybody to savor. With Ramen, banh mi, spring rolls, pho bowls, sushi rolls, and poke bowls, you might have trouble deciding. No worries—there’s a lunch special, so you don’t have to! From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, you can choose an appetizer, bowl (ramen, poke, or pho), and a drink. Here at Minneapolis Northwest, we like to try a little bit of everything, so this is our go-to order! Need help getting started? The poke bowls are delicious: we suggest the yumyum tuna, veggie, and rainbow bowls.

Want something sweet to top off your meal? The bubble tea and sweet smoothies will satisfy your cravings! The spicy mangonada and sweet avocado shake are a great compliment to any order. Get creative with the build-your-own smoothies by choosing a fruit base (our favorite is taro or straw-banana), and then adding in pearls, popping boba, coffee, or tri-color jelly. The result is tasty and pretty! Rolls & Bowls offers specialty sweets too, if you have room after a generously-portioned meal. Choose either a fruit or Mochi tri-color treat.

If you’re looking for an adult beverage, you’re in luck: Rolls & Bowls infuses their sake with fruit to create unique concoctions. Choose pineapple or watermelon and get ready to Instagram—it’s served in an actual pineapple or watermelon! There’s also a wide selection of tea, including milk tea and Thai tea, and some authentic south Asian specialties like fresh sugar cane juice and Ramune, a Japanese soda.

Of course, the reason for such great food, drink and ambience has to do with the person behind it all. Owner Linh Hyun has been running restaurants for more than twenty years. You might be familiar with her first restaurant in Brooklyn Park, Kim Anh Pastery & Deli. The wide selection of desserts is a testament to Hyun’s skills, both as a chef and businesswoman. While there are a variety of Asian restaurants in the area, including many Japanese and Vietnamese options, Hyun saw a lack of variety—not much Ramen, no poke—and decided to fill that gap.

Make sure you taste the colorful assortment of dishes and drinks at Rolls & Bowls! For more info, check out their website and social media.
