At the American Swedish Institute's annual Midsommar Celebration, anyone can be Swedish for a day! Welcome summer like a Swedes and help us raise the midsommarstång (maypole) and dance around it; make flower crown head wreaths out of real flora; listen to live music from Scandinavian folk artists on the outdoor stage; and enjoy special food and beverages for purchase from FIKA. There will be family activities such as crafts and a seek-and-find, and the ASI Museum Store is hosting a special pop-up shop featuring clogs, rugs and more. This annual festival affects the normal hours of FIKA. No special passes or discounts are applicable on festival days. Entrance to the festival is included in the price of museum admission: $12 adults; $8 seniors; $6 ages 6-18 and students with ID; free for ASI members and children under 6. Buy tickets at the door (no pre-sale).
