5th Annual Cities United Black History Month

Come gather with Brooklyn Park community organizations to celebrate and and honor Black History Month!

Join Brooklyn Park and Cities United as they host several community organizations to honor this month. The 5th Annual Cities United Black History Month Event is planned and implemented by young people from the Brooklyn Park Cities United Sound Off Stations and the Roadmap Academy Community Innovation Team, which is comprised of local high school students and My Brother’s Keeper Brooklyn Park.This year's theme is “The Journey Continues…Reflect, Renew and Respond,” and the day will include a variety of activities, including:

-Free lunch and Cities United Black History Month Event T-shirt
-Live performances by local artists
-Enhanced networking session with elected and appointed officials of color
-Announcement of “2020 NFBPA MN Distinguished Service Award” recipient
-A barber shop conversation on the topic of uniting leaders for change
-A breakout session “Connecting Cultures Through Diversity” led by Fridley High School students

Over the past four years, this event has averaged over 250 high school students, community leaders, administrators and elected officials. Come watch their special presentation and enjoy a day of community involvement and inspiration!
