Wicked Wort: A HOPULAR Craft Beer Hangout

BEER! Okay, I apologize. That was a cheap ploy to get you to learn more about Wicked Wort. It’s an awesome family owned brewery in Minneapolis Northwest, that you need to experience. Minnesota has built a reputation as a “Craft Beer Capital” and Minneapolis Northwest doesn’t disappoint.

Easily accessible in Robbinsdale, Wicked Wort is a destination brewery for craft beer enthusiasts (or those just looking for a delicious beer with friends). The hardest decision you’ll have to make here is which beer to get. (I recommend trying a flight, but you can’t go wrong just picking one from the menu.)

It is immediately clear when you walk in that you can kick back and make yourself comfortable at Wicked Wort. It has a relaxed atmosphere, partially due to the cool, dark industrial vibes, but also because everyone here just wants to have a good time with a tasty brew. Our group tried quite a few, but some of the winners were: Birdtown Blonde Ale, Old Sport London Brown Ale, Showgirl Raspberry Wheat, Muscles from Brussels Single, and OL’ Bessie’s Double Chocolate Milk Stout. I may or may not have just listed half the menu. But that’s how good they all are!

I’ve never been one for dark beers, but the Old Sport London Brown Ale was surprisingly light and didn’t leave any bitter aftertaste. Bessie’s Double Chocolate Milk Stout would be a great beer for someone that doesn’t like beer. It tasted like something I could dip cookies into, which is a huge bonus. The Showgirl Raspberry Wheat would be the perfect beverage for a warm spring day (which is hopefully just around the corner), plus it’s a gorgeous pink color. Muscles from Brussels Single Belgian was probably my favorite. It tasted like a light and delicious classic that I could drink six of (not that I did).

If the beer alone isn’t a big enough draw (but let’s be serious, it is), they also have FREE POPCORN! In addition to the popcorn, there are some incredible restaurants in the area that deliver to YOUR TABLE. One of these fine establishments is Pig Ate My Pizza, which is an experience in and of itself (I could eat an entire Piggy Pie right now). Just imagine the magic that happens when you take this delicious craft beer and pair it with the best pizza you’ll ever have. Seriously, close your eyes and imagine it. You’re welcome.

Wicked Wort is worth your time. It offers “Bend & Brew” yoga on Mondays, and is open from 3pm to 11pm Tuesday through Thursday. Thankfully it is open from NOON to midnight Fridays and Saturdays, and 11:30am to 9pm on Sundays. Which means you have endless opportunities to become well-acquainted with Wicked Wort. They also offer tours for those of you looking for a more immersive experience. Check the details on the website and sign up early! Check out Wicked Wort and make sure to have a beer for me (or two, I won’t judge).
