Gifts for Him This Valentine’s Day (Because He Will Never Tell You)
Before any gift-giving holiday, it’s typical to hear that women are difficult to shop for, even though sending a link with the exact thing I want or spelling out that dinner at this restaurant would be amazing, is incredibly direct (and don’t even get me started on that Valentine’s Day when all I asked for was a heartfelt card and got...nothing). It is in fact much harder to shop for men. Ask them for ideas and what is generally the answer? Either “I don’t know” or something inappropriate that I can’t type here. So, in hopes of making your Valentine’s Day easier and more pleasant, here are some ideas for gifts for your significant other. It just depends on how much you love them! I’m kidding (mostly).
Golf lessons at Rush Creek might possibly be their favorite gift ever. Where better to start learning or simply improve your game than at one of the best public golf courses in the country? Depending on your guy’s preferences, you can purchase group lessons starting at $99, one individual lesson starting at $100, five individual lessons for $495, or three individual lessons for $330. If your spouse is at the top of his game (and money is no issue this Valentine’s Day), there is an Elite Training Program for $600. A safe bet would be purchasing something on the less expensive side to make sure it’s something he would like to pursue. Then, if he enjoys it, you have his birthday and holiday gifts taken care of! To browse your options, check out Rush Creek’s website: http://www.rushcreek.com/golf_academy/
If you’re looking for something more laid-back that you both can enjoy, try a couple’s massage. He’d never buy it for himself, but he’ll love it (and so will you). The Woodhouse Day Spa at The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes has an incredible “Duet Massage”. This massage “encourages unity, connection and collective calm. Ease stress and unwind as two therapists perform side-by-side Swedish massages that help the two of you relax.” It is absolute bliss (I speak from experience). The “Duet” starts at 50 minutes for $175, but you can choose 80 minutes for $250. If you’d like long-term happiness, they have packages of six for each length. There are plenty of other amazing treatments as well. Check them out here: http://www.minneapolisnorthwest.com/directory/the-woodhouse-day-spa/
Feeling adventurous? Take a scenic flight tour of the Twin Cities! You’ve never seen the Twin Cities like this before. At Thunderbird Aviation, you can customize flights to match your specific wants and needs. Prices start at just $119, but the pictures you’ll be able to take will be worth so much more! It’s a creative and romantic way to spend some time together on or after Valentine’s Day. For booking information, head to the website: http://thunderbirdaviation.com/pilot-shop/gift-ideas/scenic-flights/
For the outdoorsman try a guided fishing trip! Lake Minnetonka Guides offers ½ day guided trips for two anglers for $300. They can accommodate larger groups too, if you think that would be more you and your guy’s style. They provide everything you need except a current Minnesota Fishing License, sunglasses, rain gear and your snacks and beverages. Your guide will pick you up on the lake, and you’re set for a fun and successful fishing experience! For rates on larger groups or to book a trip, head to the website: http://www.lakeminnetonkaguides.com
Is your main squeeze into the craft beer scene? Bring him to OMNI Brewing Co. in Maple Grove and he’ll be the hoppiest (couldn’t help it) guy around! They have each day’s taplist on their website (which you can find here: http://www.minneapolisnorthwest.com/directory/omni-brewing-breweries/ ). Some of the local favorites are Lake Day, Omnipotent, and Muddy Runner. You can make it a full night out at OMNI because they typically have food trucks present as well. Do you already know his favorite OMNI brew? Buy him a growler, or get a certificate for a growler of his choosing. If he’s really worth it, get him some OMNI swag while you’re there.
Instead of something material, give your significant other an experience they’ll remember forever this Valentine’s Day. Or give YOURSELF an experience you’ll remember forever this Valentine’s Day. Either way, these out of the ordinary ideas are bound to produce an awesome time and amazing pictures (except maybe the massage option, you can keep that one private).
Thinking you might want to keep the romance going and stay at a hotel? We've got some great ones here!
