Fall Itinerary for Family Fun in Minneapolis Northwest

Autumn is the perfect time to bring the family to Minneapolis Northwest for a weekend full of fun. From taking in the breathtaking fall colors to finding your way out of a unique corn maze, there is always something to do…and a place to eat! Plan your trip around our family weekend itinerary for an unforgettable time and memories.

Rise and Shine

It’s a fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Minneapolis Northwest has some great dining options to ensure a delicious start to your day!

The Original Pancake House

Whether you are in the mood for pancakes, waffles, decadent crepes, eggs or the mother of all favorites…bacon…the Original Pancake House is a sure bet to satisfy everyone’s craving…including the kids! The Original Pancake House is a second and third generation family business with an inviting and cozy atmosphere. It’s like eating in your own dining room at home! Try well-known favorites like the Dutch Baby, eggs benedict or Georgia Pecan pancakes!

Fat Nat’s Eggs

You guessed it from the name, Fat Nat’s Eggs specializes in creating the most diverse dishes using…eggs! Using the freshest ingredients, prepared daily, every meal is made to order to ensure you get a breakfast to remember. You can chose from seven different kinds of eggs benedict or take the adventurous route and try a Fat Nat specialty like Huevos Rancheros Carnitas that will spice up your morning!

Fall in Love with the Great Outdoors

The crisp, cool autumn air will awaken your senses and make you fall in love with the beautiful scenery and family friendly activities in and around Minneapolis Northwest.

Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze

Get lost in the excitement of autumn at the popular Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze. The festival features Minnesota’s largest corn maze, measuring 20 acres and features entertainment for the whole family! Besides a corn maze, there is a corn pit where kids can swim through corn, a straw-bale maze to climb over (or under depending on your approach), a petting zoo featuring familiar and exotic animals (hello kangaroo) and hayrides where the whole family can sit back and relax (especially the parents)! But wait…there is more…including live music, pony rides and a pumpkin patch. This is a must-visit event on everyone’s list!

Fall on the Farm

Wonder what fall on the farm was like at the turn of the 20th century? Eidem Homestead has planned a schedule full of fun, engaging activities for all ages. Fall time on the farm was all about preparing for the upcoming winter season. Activities include harvesting the garden, pressing cider, carving pumpkins and cooking fall treats in the kitchen. Bonus tip: Children under the age of four are FREE!

Lunch Break

With so much to do in Minneapolis Northwest, your family will need to refuel for an afternoon of more fun. From casual dining to cafés, there are so many options that the only debate of the day will be where to eat!

50’s Grill

Step back in time at 50’s Grill where the jukebox is jumping and the food is served up with a smile. With dishes like homemade meatloaf and chicken potpie, you’ll feel as if you never left home! Before you leave, treat the kids (and yourself!) and order a malt—you’ve escaped to the 1950s, well before the era of counting calories.

Patrick’s Restaurant & Bakery

Bonjour! Located at the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, Patrick’s Restaurant & Bakery features the best of French and American cuisine. Order a cone fry for the kids to share. It’s a Minneapolis Northwest staff favorite! And just try to resist their irresistible pastries and cakes! Bonus tip: Enjoy the autumn weather on their patio.

Let the Good Times Roll

After taking a brief break from the action with lunch, continue the fun with more adventure in Minneapolis Northwest.

Visit Brookland Golf Park for a rousing game of FootGolf with the family! A combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf, players use soccer balls on a traditional golf course with 21-inch diameter cups. The FootGolf course features nine holes and has its own set of tees and greens.

Eastman Nature Center

Situated within the Elm Creek Park Reserve, nestled in the sugar maple floodplain forest of Rush Creek, is Eastman Nature Center. Families can learn about the great outdoors through a variety of special events throughout the fall, and kids will love the hands-on activities, dressing up in costumes and putting on a puppet show! Live reptiles and amphibians add to the rotating interpretive displays throughout the building.

Grand Finale

End the day on a celebratory note by having a nice family dinner at casual-dining spot or getting wild at an entertainment complex where you can eat and play under one roof!

Dave & Buster’s

Featuring more than 200 games (yes, you heard right) in its Million Dollar Midway, Dave & Buster’s is fun for the whole family (parents will be busy winning tickets, too)! Enjoy this premiere entertainment complex and play everything from billiards to shuffleboard. We guarantee you will have worked up an appetite after hitting the Million Dollar Midway, so sit down as a family and enjoy a wide-range of delicious food to satisfy everyone at the table.

Three Squares Restaurant

Three Squares Restaurant is a great place to unwind after a long day of autumn activities with the family. This casual-dining restaurant has an expansive kid’s menu for your little ones and a variety for parents from entrees to salads and sandwiches.
