Fall Itinerary for Family Fun in Minneapolis Northwest
Autumn is the perfect time to bring the family to Minneapolis Northwest for a weekend full of fun. From taking in the breathtaking fall colors to finding your way out of a unique corn maze, there is always something to do…and a place to eat! Plan your trip around our family weekend itinerary for an unforgettable time and memories.
Fat Nat’s Eggs
You guessed it from the name, Fat Nat’s Eggs specializes in creating the most diverse dishes using…eggs! Using the freshest ingredients, prepared daily, every meal is made to order to ensure you get a breakfast to remember. You can chose from seven different kinds of eggs Benedict or take the adventurous route and try a Fat Nat's specialty like Huevos Rancheros Carnitas that will spice up your morning!
For a grab-and-go breakfast, head to Daily Dose Brooklyn Park or Daily Dose Maple Grove for muffins, scones and biscotti, yogurt parfait with fresh fruit, or a hot breakfast panini. Get a coffee to go for an added pick-me-up!
Morning: Fall in Love with the Great Outdoors
Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze
Get lost in the excitement of autumn at the popular Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze. The festival showcases one of Minnesota’s largest corn mazes, measuring 20 acres and features entertainment for the whole family! Besides the corn maze, there is a corn seed pit, a straw-bale maze to climb over (or under, depending on your approach), a petting zoo and hayrides where the whole family can sit back and relax. There’s even more - live music, pony rides and a pumpkin patch! This is a must-visit fall event on everyone’s list.
Visit Brookland Golf Park for a rousing game of FootGolf with the family. A combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf, players use soccer balls on a traditional golf course with 21-inch diameter cups. The FootGolf course features nine holes and has its own set of tees and greens.
Step back in time at 50’s Grill where the jukebox is jumping and the food is served up with a smile. With dishes like homemade meatloaf and chicken potpie, you’ll feel as if you never left home! Before you leave, treat the kids (and yourself!) and order a malt—you’ve escaped to the 1950s, well before the era of counting calories.
Tacos at Fiesta Cancun
Fiesta Cancun, a delicious Mexican bar and grill, has a large, varied menu with options for even the pickiest eaters. Flavorful tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and burritos will keep you fueled for fun the rest of the afternoon.
Afternoon: Let the Good Times Roll
Eastman Nature Center
Within beautiful Elm Creek Park is Eastman Nature Center – an epicenter of seasonal events for the whole family. On select weekends, enjoy a Fall Color Tram Tour that takes you on a tractor-drawn ride through the woods to marvel at the gorgeous fall colors. You may even spot wildlife! The center also hosts apple cider demonstrations, honey harvest demonstrations, leaf printing and more. If you’re in town Oct. 26, stop by the center for Big Woods Halloween, featuring carnival games, puppet shows and a pumpkin scavenger hunt.
Fall on the Farm
Experience Fall on the Farm at Historic Eidem Farm to get a taste of what harvest life was like at the turn of the century. The autumn season was all about preparing for the upcoming winter. Activities include harvesting the garden, pressing cider, carving pumpkins and cooking fall treats in the kitchen. Bonus tip: Children under the age of four are FREE!
3 Squares Restaurant
An ideal spot for dining families is 3 Squares Restaurant. With its varied menu and casual atmosphere, you'll feel like you're in the comfort of your own home. Not to mention the food is outstanding, so everyone is guaranteed to leave satisfied.
Sweet Taste of Italy
After a morning and afternoon of busy fall fun, relax and reload at Sweet Taste of Italy, a locally owned Italian restaurant that features a savory menu made from scratch every day. Order your family a piping hot specialty pizza like Chicken Bacon BBQ, Bacon Cheeseburger or Tropical Paradise. Also offered is the daily All-You-Can-Eat special: choose from spaghetti, mostaccioli or penne alfredo with garlic bread and choice of tossed salad or 20 oz. fountain soda.
Night: Grand Finale
Dave & Buster’s
Featuring more than 200 games (yes, you heard right) in its Million Dollar Midway, Dave & Buster’s is fun for the whole family (parents will be busy winning tickets, too)! Enjoy this premiere entertainment complex and play everything from billiards to shuffleboard. And you definitely won't want to miss Dave & Buster's new Jurassic World virtual reality experience!
Holiday Inn & Suites Venetian Waterpark
Parents and kids will have a blast splashing around in the Venetian Waterpark at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Maple Grove. Enjoy two 4-story waterslides, a walking bridge, whirlpool, activity pool with water basketball, concession area and a 1,200-sq. ft. arcade. Convenient and affordable, this stress-free hotel is the perfect home base for your visit to Minneapolis Northwest.
