The 2013 Minnesota State Open Championship, one of the oldest golf tournaments throughout Minnesota is coming to Edinburgh USA July 19-21. Primarily held at Bunker Hills for much of its existence, the organizers of the tournament have adopted a rotating schedule for other courses to host during odd numbered years giving Edinburgh USA the opportunity for 2013. “The Minnesota PGA approached us a couple of years ago, and we decided to go for it,” said Edinburgh USA head professional Don Berry, a two-time winner of the Minnesota State Open. “We looked at it as an honor to be considered, so we are obviously excited for that weekend.” “It is the biggest local tournament in Minnesota, and we are going to treat it that way,” said Berry.

The 2013 tournament will feature a playing field loaded with talented players from both the professional and amateur ranks. Six former winners – including Berry, who won in both 1992 and 1999 – will be playing. “When you play in it a few times you get a feeling for the sense of history that comes with the State Open,” said Berry. “It is a very important tournament in terms of the history it brings to the sport in Minnesota.” For more information about the 2013 Minnesota State Open Championship visit www.minnesotastateopen.com
