Brooklyn Park, MN - The City of Brooklyn Park’s first accessible playground for children with special needs will officially open Wednesday, May 21 during a grand opening celebration from 6:30 to 7 p.m. at Northwoods Park, located at 7600 107th Ave. N.

Residents, park users and anyone who supports inclusiveness are urged to attend the short ceremony. This is the same park that includes a wheelchair accessible softball field that opened two years ago and is now the site of national wheelchair softball tournaments. Now, not only can adults and kids play softball but children can enjoy the specially designed playground equipment.

The playground is being funded through city funds, and is part of a plan to promote the city’s mission statement, which is Brooklyn Park, a thriving community inspiring pride where opportunities exist for all.
