Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal: Deep-dish Pizza Chain Rosati's Opens its First Minnesota Location in Maple Grove
By: Alex Van Abbema
Rosati's Pizza, a Warrenville-Ill.-based franchise servicing Chicago-style, deep-dish pizza, has opened its first location in Minnesota.
The 1,070-square-foot location opened Monday at 15511 Grove Circle N. in Maple Grove.
James Rosati, the owner and franchisee of the establishment, says this restaurant has been in the works since 2016, and the restaurant opened this month after an eight-month buildout. Rosati says he, and management at Rosati's, chose this spot on the west side of Maple Grove due to growth in the city, and an potentially increasing customer and employee base.
Rosati worked in restaurants such as Baker's Square and Potbelly until he was 31, then started his own business doing containerized freight fumigation. In 2016, he decided to get back in the restaurant game, becoming Rosati's first franchisee in the Twin Cities.
He believes that the restaurant's extensive menu, which includes a variety of deep-dish pizzas, pastas, sandwiches and salads, will set it apart from other pizza establishments in the area, like Jet's or Pieology.
"We have a full restaurant menu inside our tiny store," Rosati says.
As Minnesota's first Rosati's franchisee, Rosati says the Maple Grove location is just the beginning. He's looking to add another three restaurants over the next five years, including units in south and east Minneapolis.
Rosati's has over 150 restaurants throughout the United States, including 82 in its home state of Illinois.
