Lyric Arts is Udderly Excited for “Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type”

ANOKA, MN—Lyric Arts is pleased to present their second ‘Mainly for Kids’ production of the season, Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type, a musical based on the wildly popular children’s book.

The play is set on Farmer Brown’s farm, where the animals have just about had enough! They work all day to provide milk and eggs, but when their request for electric blankets to warm the drafty barn is ignored, action must be taken. So the cows go on strike and the chickens join them in solidarity. No blankets: no milk, no eggs!

Young audiences will be entertained as they watch the Cows, Hen, and Duck – and their trusty typewriter – try to find ways to communicate their demands as they engage in peaceful protest to improve their working conditions. Though the book is aimed towards preschool-aged children, adults and kids of all ages will find humor in this delightful and hilariously “moo-ving” musical about negotiation and compromise.

“I want you to imagine a peaceful farm,” says Director Cassandra Proball, “but the animals start to get some ideas into their head. They say ‘It’s really cold here!’ but all Farmer Brown hears is ‘moo’ and ‘cluck.’ But then, the animals notice a typewriter, they start making demands… and chaos ensues.”

This will be Cassandra’s first time directing a production on the Main Street Stage. Her work as Lyric Arts’ Education Director has allowed Lyric Arts to vastly expand education programming in the past year, and has given her a great deal of experience engaging children with theater activities and productions.

Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type is one of two ‘Mainly for Kids’ productions put on by Lyric Arts each year. All ‘Mainly for Kids’ productions run an hour and are chosen specifically to entertain young children.

Click, Clack, Moo, Cows That Typewill run from April 12th through 26th, 2014. To reserve tickets for the production, or for information about our School Day Matinees, contact the Lyric Arts box office at 763-422-1838 or visit www.lyricarts.org.
