Winery Wonderland

Rolling green lawns, bonfires, views of the water, rustic charms, and wine, where are you? Waconia obviously! Just a short ride from Minneapolis Northwest live the wineries of your dreams.

The next time you plan a trip to Minneapolis Northwest, set some time aside to visit one (or all three) wineries in Waconia.

Sovereign Estate has everything you could possibly need to wrap up a girls’ weekend or client event. Their knowledgeable staff will offer helpful recommendations for your wine tasting and then you need to get a bottle to share with your group! Just a few of the standouts are the 2013 Talon Crest (white, semi-sweet, full, aromatic, fruity), 2015 St. Therese Rose (rose’, sweet, full, crisp, fruity), or the 2015 Marquette (red, dry, light, lively, fruity). Combine these with the views of Lake Waconia, beautiful seating inside and out, bonfires, plenty of room to walk around and lawn games, it is an easy way to spend an entire day.

Parley Lake Winery (and Deardorff Orchards) has plenty to keep the entire family entertained with an apple orchard, pumpkin patch, goats, and of course, wine! There is plenty to see and do here, but inside with wine barrels as tables, beautiful old wood floors, and the rustic elegance, you’ll want to sip wine all afternoon. While the entire selection is delicious, some of the favorites are Apples & Vines (2014) and 2015 Frontenac Gris, which has notes of apricot and peach with hints of citrus and tropical fruits. Whether it’s by the glass or the bottle, you can’t go wrong here.

At Schram Vineyards Winery & Brewery country meets city in this expansive indoor and outdoor location. Sit outside under the twinkling lights at night, or play games inside on beautiful wood tables with a variety of wine and beer to quench your thirst. You’ll fall in love with the Chandelle, aged in stainless steel, which makes this un-oaked Chardonnay light, clean, crisp, and dry with a natural and mellow fruit flavor, or the Barnstormer, a very fruit-forward red blend with perceptible sweetness, making this an easy-drinking red wine. Pair these with a cheese tray or something tasty from a food truck that is on-site most days.
