About the Area

Minneapolis Northwest Tourism: It is the Mission of Minneapolis Northwest Tourism To Attract Visitors to our Area resulting in a Positive Economic Impact.

Minneapolis Northwest is comprised of three vibrant cities: Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, and Maple Grove, MN. We are just minutes from downtown Minneapolis and centrally located along I-94/694/494. Best known for shopping, outdoor recreation (especially biking), and family attractions, there is more to be discovered in Minneapolis Northwest than one might think!

Bargain hunters, fashionistas, foodies, outdoor enthusiasts, and families alike flock here from across the region thanks to shopping attractions like Albertville Premium Outlets, Cabela’s, and the Arbor Lakes shopping & dining district. Minneapolis Northwest doesn’t have the largest mall in Minnesota, but these three shopping centers account for more combined retail square footage than Mall of America!

Minneapolis Northwest offers access to some of the nation’s best bike trails. Cross the Coon Rapids Dam, hop on the picturesque MRT (which traverses the entire Mississippi!), or ride trails all the way to downtown Minneapolis. We're also a haven for fat bike enthusiasts with nearly 13 miles of groomed singletrack.

If you know anything about Minnesotans, you know that we don’t stay indoors when the temperatures drop. Elm Creek Park Reserve is perfect for outdoor adventures like cross country skiing, tubing, snowshoeing, and skijoring. The state’s hottest new winter attraction is the ice skating loop at Central Park of Maple Grove.  The first of its kind in Minnesota, the loop is a refrigerated 800’ trail meandering through the park.

These attractions and more make Minneapolis Northwest the ultimate family-friendly Minneapolis vacation. Kids can splash around on the sandy beaches of the Elm Creek Swimming Pond or Bunker Beach Waterpark. It’s easy to hop in the car and head downtown for a Twins Game. Or hit up tried and true favorites like Dave & Busters, Brunswick Zone XL, and WhirlyBall.
